Mei Ami Beach (Hebrew: חוף מי עמי) is one of the municipal beaches in Ashdod, situated on the Mediterranean Sea in the central part of Israel’s coastline. As the city’s northern beach, it is known for its family-friendly atmosphere, cleanliness, and excellent facilities. The beach adheres to strict safety and environmental standards, making it a popular spot for both locals and tourists. A notable landmark nearby is the historic 7th-century Minat al-Qal’a fort.

Mei Ami Beach is located in the northern part of Ashdod in Israel’s Southern District, approximately 20 miles (32 km) south of Tel Aviv and 12 miles (20 km) north of Ashkelon. The beach is a sandy stretch about 0.6 miles (1 km) long and up to 110 yards (100 m) wide, surrounded by urban development, park areas, and port infrastructure. It is situated near the Ashdod Marina, Ashdod Yam Park, and other city beaches. The total length of Ashdod’s shoreline is nearly 5 miles (8 km) of sandy dunes.

The beach’s history is intertwined with the development of modern Ashdod, which was founded in 1956 on sand hills near the site of the ancient city. Ancient Ashdod itself was ruled by various powers throughout history, including the Canaanites, Philistines, Assyrians, Persians, Romans, and Byzantines. Mei Ami Beach was actively developed between the 1960s and 2000s as part of the city’s tourism zone.

The climate is Mediterranean, featuring hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters. Annual rainfall is about 20 inches (510 mm), occurring primarily from November through March. Summer water temperatures are a pleasant 79–82°F (26–28°C).
