Live webcam provides real-time views of Mount Tateyama in Japan.
Mount Tateyama is one of the main peaks of the Tateyama Range in the Northern Japanese Alps and part of the Chūbu-Sangaku National Park. It is located in the southeastern part of Toyama Prefecture on the island of Honshu. Rising 3,015 meters above sea level, it is one of the highest mountains in the region. Tateyama is also one of Japan’s “Three Sacred Mountains,” along with Mount Fuji and Mount Haku, and has long been a site of mountain worship. At the summit stands Oyama Shrine (Oyama Jinja), a historic pilgrimage destination where visitors traditionally receive hot sake and a priest’s blessing as part of the ascent ritual.
At the foot of the mountain lies the town of Tateyama, home to hotels, guesthouses, and a well-developed tourist infrastructure. This is where the famous Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route begins — one of Japan’s most iconic high-mountain sightseeing routes featuring alpine valleys, towering snow walls, scenic viewpoints, and the renowned Kurobe Dam. On clear days, Mount Tateyama offers breathtaking views of the Shōmyō Falls, considered the tallest waterfall in Japan. Thanks to its unique nature, hot springs, alpine landscapes, and accessible routes, Mount Tateyama remains one of the most popular natural attractions in Central Japan.
