Rainbow Bridge is a suspension bridge in Tokyo that spans the northern part of Tokyo Bay, connecting the Minato Ward with the artificial island of Odaiba. Construction took place from 1987 to 1993 and lasted about six years. The main span measures 570 meters, the total length is 798 meters, the bridge is 49 meters wide, and its towers rise 126 meters high.
The bridge has two levels: the lower deck features the Yurikamome Line, a free roadway, and two pedestrian walkways, while the upper deck carries the Daiba Route (Shuto Expressway Route 11). The structure is painted white and equipped with a nighttime lighting system that illuminates the towers in blue, white, red, yellow, and green. The colorful illumination is what gave the bridge its name — the Rainbow Bridge.
