Mera Peak is a 6,476-meter (21,247-foot) mountain located in the Mahalangur Himalaya range within Province No. 1, Nepal. It is the highest trekking peak in Nepal, suitable for climbers with basic mountaineering experience. From the summit, climbers are rewarded with panoramic views of several 8,000-meter peaks, including Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, and Kangchenjunga.
Mera Peak has three main summits: Mera North (6,476 m), Mera Central (approx. 6,461 m), and Mera South (approx. 6,065 m). The first recorded ascent of Mera Central was on May 20, 1953, while Mera North was first climbed by a team of French mountaineers in the mid-1970s. The best climbing seasons are spring and autumn, requiring proper acclimatization, overnight stays in high-altitude camps, and basic mountaineering equipment.
Lama Lodge is a mountain lodge along the trekking route to Mera Peak, located in Kote Village, Koshi Province, Nepal, at an elevation of approximately 3,550 meters (11,647 feet). It serves as an intermediate stop for climbers before heading to higher camps. Lama Lodge offers simple but comfortable accommodations, meals, a dining hall, and showers (for an additional fee), all supported by friendly and welcoming staff.
