The Red Bridge is both a vehicular and pedestrian bridge spanning the Basla River in the center of Sukhum, the capital of Abkhazia. It was opened in 1951, features a single span, and has three lanes for traffic. On both sides of the bridge, there are pedestrian walkways separated from the roadway by decorative metal railings. The bridge is adorned with four decorative columns and four elaborately designed staircases.

Originally, a metal bridge with trusses similar to those used on railway bridges stood here, connecting Sukhumi with the village of Abzhyqua. It was painted brick red, which gave the bridge its name. Later, the metal bridge was replaced with a reinforced concrete structure, but the original name remained.

Today, the Red Bridge is part of Akirtava Street, one of the city’s main traffic arteries. The bridge is also historically significant as the site of the first intense battles for Sukhumi during the 1992–1993 Georgian-Abkhazian War. The webcam provides a view of the entrance to the Red Bridge and the intersection of Chitanava and Akirtava Streets in the city center.
