The Rainbow Fountain Bridge (Banpo Bridge, Korean: 반포대교) is a major road bridge spanning the Han River and connecting Seoul’s Seocho and Yongsan districts. Built as a two-level structure over the pedestrian-only Jamsu Bridge, it was completed and opened in 1982. The bridge stretches approximately 1,495 meters. It is easily accessible by public transportation, with nearby subway stations and bus stops providing convenient access to the riverfront.”

In April 2009, the Moonlight Rainbow Fountain (Korean: 달빛무지개분수) was installed along the side railings of Banpo Bridge as part of the Hangang Renaissance waterfront revitalization project. The total length of the fountain system is about 1,140 meters (570 meters on each side), which earned a Guinness World Record in 2008 for being the ‘world’s longest bridge fountain.’ The system features hundreds of nozzles and pumps synchronized with LED lighting and music, drawing water directly from the Han River.

The fountain show runs regularly during the warm season—typically from April to October—several times a day, often up to six shows of around 20 minutes each. The schedule and duration may vary depending on weather conditions and city events. Updated show times are published on official Seoul government and tourism websites. At night, the fountain’s colorful LED lighting creates a striking rainbow effect, making the bridge one of the city’s most popular evening attractions.

The Rainbow Fountain Bridge has become a modern symbol of Seoul and a beloved spot for both locals and visitors. Along the riverbank, Banpo Hangang Park offers walking paths, cycling routes, and viewing areas ideal for watching the fountain show. The bridge and its nighttime fountain displays frequently appear in Seoul’s promotional materials and are featured in many sightseeing tours along the Han River.
