The Big Buddha Temple is one of the most famous landmarks of Koh Samui, it was built in 1972 with belief to save the island from natural disasters. It is a huge gilded statue of Buddha 12 meters high, sitting in a lotus position facing the island of Koh Samui, Thailand. The Big Buddha Temple is located at the top of a small rocky island off the northern corner of Koh Samui, which is connected to it by an embankment and road. A stairs of 60 steps lead to the statue, on both sides of which there are snakelike creatures of Naga. Before going up to the statue need to take off shoes.
