Baden-Baden is a city and one of the most famous spa centers in Germany, located in the state of Baden-Württemberg in south-western Germany, near the border with France. The city is located on both banks of the Oos River, on the western slopes of the picturesque Schwarzwald mountain range, at an altitude of 189 meters above sea level, 177 km south of Frankfurt am Main and 106 km west of Stuttgart. It has an area of 140 km² and is home to more than 56,000 people. Baden-Baden was founded by the Romans more than 2 thousand years ago and named in honor of Emperor Aurelius Alexander Severus. And its current name Baden-Baden translates from German as “bathing-bathing”.

Baden-Baden has been known for its hot springs since Roman times and today you can see the ruins of the Roman baths.
