Bopparder Hamm is a famous wine region in Germany, known for its picturesque scenery and and historic towns. It is located along the Rhine River in Rhineland-Palatinate in the southwest of the country, 80 kilometers (50 miles) south of Cologne and 100 kilometers (62 miles) west of Frankfurt. Bopparder Hamm is known for the production of high quality wines, especially the high quality Riesling variety. The vineyards of Bopparder Hamm are terraced along both banks of the Rhine River.
The local landscape in the Rhine riverbed creates a unique microclimate, which retains heat for a long time and creates excellent conditions for ripening grapes. On the banks of the Rhine River there are old historic towns and villages such as Boppard, Filsen and Osterspai.
