The Aragonese Castle (Italian: Castello Aragonese d’Ischia) is situated on a small islet near the eastern coast of Ischia Island in the Tyrrhenian Sea, in the Campania region, Naples of Province. The first mentions of the castle date back to 474 BCE, when Hiero I of Syracuse built a fortress to protect against the ancient Etruscan civilization. In the 15th century, the castle was connected to Ischia Island by a bridge. Today, the Aragonese Castle is privately owned and is a popular tourist attraction on Ischia Island, open for visitors. The live webcam is installed at the Ulisse Hotel, providing an excellent view of the Aragonese Castle as well as the coastline of the town of Ischia Ponte.
