Székesfehérvár is one of the oldest and historically most significant cities in Hungary, located just 37 miles (60 km) southwest of Budapest. In the 10th–16th centuries, it served as the capital of the Kingdom of Hungary and was the primary coronation site for monarchs. A total of 38 kings were crowned in the Basilica of the Virgin Mary, including the founder of the state, Saint Stephen. The city also served as the burial place for 15 rulers, earning it the title of the “Hungarian Saint-Denis.”

The Main Square (Városház tér) is the cobblestone heart of the Old Town, surrounded by cafes, restaurants, and historic buildings. The architectural landmarks include the Town Hall, the yellow-and-white St. Stephen’s Cathedral, and the Cistercian Church with its uniquely purple-colored walls. Located right here is the famous Országalma statue (Country Apple statue / “State Apple”) — a large sphere in the center of the square symbolizing the coronation orb. It is one of the main attractions and an unofficial symbol of Székesfehérvár.

Just a few steps from the Main Square lies the Medieval Ruin Garden — the remains of the Coronation Basilica of St. Stephen, destroyed in the 17th century, which now serves as an open-air museum. Other key attractions include the Kovács Jenő Clock Museum, the Black Eagle Museum (an old pharmacy with unique interiors), and Bory Castle — a private fortress located 2.5 miles (4 km) from the city center in the Gothic style. The webcam offers a clear view of the Országalma (Country Apple) statue on the Main Square of Székesfehérvár.
