he Yastrebets Express is a four-seat detachable chairlift that began operation on December 18, 2004, replacing the older “Kotvata” lift. It offers fast and comfortable access to the Yastrebets ski area and plays a crucial role in the resort’s lift infrastructure. The lift route is 2,050 meters (about 6,725 feet) long with an elevation gain of 609 meters (1,998 feet). The ride to the top takes approximately 6 minutes, with a maximum capacity of up to 2,400 people per hour. The lower station of the chairlift is located at an altitude of 1,440 meters (4,724 feet) above sea level, about 2.5 kilometers (1.55 miles) from the road connecting Borovets to the village of Beli Iskar. The upper station sits at 2,049 meters (6,722 feet) and serves as the gateway to the Yastrebets ski zone.

The Yastrebets ski area is one of the three main skiing zones of Borovets Resort, situated between elevations of 1,340 and 2,369 meters (4,396 to 7,772 feet). It features a variety of slopes tailored to intermediate and advanced skiers and snowboarders. The area includes several runs of varying difficulty, including the renowned “Popangelov” slope (formerly “Yastrebets 2”), which is certified by the International Ski Federation (FIS) for competition use. The total length of the slopes in this area is about 12 kilometers (7.5 miles), comprising three red (intermediate) runs and one black (expert) run. Modern snowmaking machines ensure reliable artificial snow coverage throughout the ski season.

At the base of the Yastrebets Express lift, visitors can find Gourmet on the Go Café, offering hot drinks, sandwiches, and soups. At the top of the ski zone, there are cozy tea houses and restaurants such as Yastrebets Tea House and Yastrebets Stone Hut, ideal for relaxing and grabbing a meal between runs. Borovets Ski Resort is located approximately 70 kilometers (about 43.5 miles) from Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria. It is easily accessible by car or bus. The ski season typically runs from mid-December to mid-April, offering excellent conditions for winter sports enthusiasts.
