Ponte Sisto is a pedestrian bridge over the Tiber River in central Rome. It connects Piazza Trilussa in the Trastevere district with Via dei Pettinari in the Regola district. The bridge is named after Pope Sixtus IV della Rovere, who ruled the city in the late 15th century. Construction of the bridge took place from 1473 to 1479, designed by architect Baccio Pontelli under the order of Pope Sixtus IV. The bridge was built on the site of the ancient Pons Aurelius, also known as the Bridge of Antoninus, which was destroyed in 772 AD.
