Sunny Beach (Bulgarian: Слънчев Бряг) is the largest resort on Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast, renowned for its expansive sandy beaches and well-developed tourism infrastructure. It is situated along the Black Sea Gulf coast in the Burgas Province of southeastern Bulgaria, approximately 100 km (62 miles) south of Varna and 40 km (25 miles) northeast of Burgas.

Established in 1958, Sunny Beach has grown significantly, becoming Bulgaria’s largest and one of its most visited resorts. The resort spans a coastline of about 8 km (5 miles), attracting tourists from around the world with its pristine sandy beaches, which have earned the prestigious Blue Flag award. Sunny Beach enjoys a typical Mediterranean climate, characterized by long, warm summers and mild, relatively humid winters. The summer season spans from May to September, with average daytime temperatures typically ranging from +25°C to +30°C (77°F to 86°F), often peaking around +32°C (89.6°F) in July and August. The winter period is milder and wetter, with average temperatures ranging from +4°C to +10°C (39.2°F to 50°F), rarely dropping below freezing. Precipitation is infrequent, primarily occurring during the autumn and winter months.
