Vienna is the capital and largest city of Austria, serving as the country’s cultural, political, and economic hub. With a population of around 2 million, Vienna is the seventh-largest city in the European Union and the second-largest German-speaking city after Berlin. Including the surrounding suburbs, the greater Vienna metropolitan area is home to over 2.6 million people—approximately 25% of Austria’s total population.

Vienna is also the third official seat of the United Nations, following New York City and Geneva.
