The Grand Canal is the largest and most famous canal and “street” in Venice, running through the entire city from the Venezia Santa Lucia train station to the Venetian Lagoon of the Adriatic Sea near St. Mark’s Square. The Grand Canal is over 3.8 km (2.36 miles) long, 30 to 70 meters (98-230 feet) wide, and up to 5 meters (16 feet) deep.

The Grand Canal is known for its beautiful buildings and numerous palaces. Along its length, you can see more than 100 palaces, including Ca’ Rezzonico, Ca’ Foscari, Palazzo Barbarigo, and Ca’ d’Oro. Therefore, the Grand Canal is often called the “Palace Canal” (Italian: Canalazzo). It is the main waterway of the city, one of the most important attractions, and a symbol of Venice. It has very few quays; instead, it is lined with numerous docks for boats and water taxis.

The Ca’ Angeli guesthouse is located in one of the buildings on the Grand Canal, near the famous Rialto Bridge. It offers a private dock for water taxis, a lounge with antique furniture, and only six elegant rooms with great views of the Grand Canal. The rooms are decorated in Venetian style and feature a large bed, antique furniture, air conditioning, satellite TV, and free Wi-Fi. Breakfast is served in the morning in a spacious hall overlooking the Grand Canal.
