Piazza del Comune is the main square of Assisi, a town in the Umbria region of central Italy. Located at the heart of the town, the square is surrounded by ancient historical buildings. Among them are the Roman Forum, which now houses an archaeological museum, the medieval Palazzo del Capitano del Popolo (Palace of the Captain of the People), built in 1282, the Torre del Popolo (Tower of the People), erected in the 13th century, and the Palazzo dei Priori (Palace of the Priors), which serves as the town hall. At the center of the square stands a fountain constructed in 1762. Piazza del Comune serves as the civic, cultural, and political hub of Assisi.
