L’Ametlla de Mar is a small town and a popular resort on the Costa Dorada in Catalonia, located in northeastern Spain. The town is situated on the Mediterranean coast, approximately 54 kilometers (34 miles) southwest of Tarragona, the administrative center of the province of the same name within the autonomous community of Catalonia. Covering an area of 66.8 square kilometers (25.8 square miles), it has a population of about 7,000 people.

The municipality’s coastline stretches for about 16 kilometers (9.9 miles), featuring numerous picturesque coves and beaches. Many of L’Ametlla de Mar’s beaches have been awarded the prestigious international “Blue Flag” award, making it the second municipality in Catalonia with the highest number of Blue Flag beaches. L’Ametlla de Mar is also the main port for tuna fishing in all of Catalonia, boasting a large fleet of fishing vessels.
