Budapest Zoo Live Webcam, Seal Pool
The real-time webcam shows the seal pool at the Budapest Zoo in Hungary.
The Budapest Zoo & Botanical Garden (Hungarian: Fővárosi Állat- és Növénykert) is one of the oldest zoos in the world, founded in 1866. It is located in City Park (Városliget) in central Budapest and covers an area of approximately 30 acres (12 hectares). The zoo is home to more than 1,000 animal species. Among its main attractions are “Magic Mountain” with artificial rock formations, the Palm House, the Japanese Garden, and the “House of Dragons.”
One of the most popular exhibits is the Sea Lion Pool, which houses California sea lions (Zalophus californianus) and several species of seals. The pool was built in the early 20th century and is a unique architectural structure — two connected brick tanks whose interior, with its columns and vaulted ceilings, resembles a cathedral. Daily feeding demonstrations and training sessions are held here, considered among the most spectacular events at the zoo.
The webcam at the seal pool was installed in 2020 and streams footage in real time. Through the webcam, you can watch the sea lions swimming, playing, and resting on the platforms. The best time for viewing is during feeding hours. As part of the annual “Night of the Zoos” event, the pool is open to visitors in the evening, and feedings take place under special lighting.
