Manarola is a charming, historic Italian village located in the Cinque Terre National Park in the province of La Spezia, in the Liguria region of northwestern Italy. Manarola is one of the five towns in the Cinque Terre National Park, which also includes Riomaggiore, Vernazza, Corniglia, and Monterosso. The town is perched on picturesque cliffs along the Ligurian Sea, about 5 kilometers (3 miles) west of La Spezia. It is the oldest and most popular tourist destination in the Cinque Terre National Park.
Tourists are drawn to its brightly colored buildings, narrow streets, historic churches, and ancient architectural structures. Major attractions in Manarola include the ancient Church of San Lorenzo, which was first mentioned in 1338, the famous Lover’s Lane, and the local vineyards and wineries. The town is also known for its unique cuisine and is considered the birthplace of the famous pesto sauce.
