The panoramic and rotating webcam captures stunning views of Mirabell Palace in Salzburg, Austria.
Mirabell Palace (Schloss Mirabell) is a remarkable architectural landmark and one of the main attractions of Salzburg in Austria. It was built in 1606 by order of Prince-Archbishop Wolf Dietrich von Raitenau for his beloved Salome Alt. Originally named “Altenau,” the palace was later renamed “Mirabell” by his successor, Archbishop Markus Sittikus von Hohenems, after Raitenau’s death. The name “Mirabell” comes from Italian, meaning “wonderfully beautiful,” combining mirabile (“wonderful”) and bella (“beautiful”).
The Marble Hall (Marble Hall) is considered one of the most beautiful wedding halls in the world. Once serving as the prince-archbishop’s ballroom, it famously hosted performances by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart himself. Today, the hall is used for weddings, concerts, and ceremonial events. Mirabell Gardens (Mirabellgarten) were redesigned in 1690 under the direction of Archbishop Johann Ernst von Thun by the renowned architect Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach. Both Mirabell Palace and its gardens are part of Salzburg’s Historic Centre, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Today, Mirabell Palace functions as an administrative building, housing the offices of the Salzburg city government. The gardens are open to the public and are a popular destination for both locals and tourists. The Marble Hall continues to host weddings and concerts.
