The Grünwaldkopfbahn is a modern combined lift located in the ski resort of Obertauern in the federal state of Salzburg, Austria. It is a key part of the resort’s infrastructure, providing convenient access to various ski areas and hiking trails. The lift system includes both 8-seater chairlifts with protective hoods and 10-person gondolas. The route is 997 meters (3,271 feet) long, with a travel time of approximately 3 minutes and 40 seconds. The base station is situated at an elevation of 1,665 meters (5,463 feet) above sea level, while the top station is at 1,970 meters (6,463 feet), resulting in a vertical rise of 305 meters (1,001 feet).
The lower station is easily accessible via the B99 federal road, where visitors will also find a spacious free parking lot. The gondolas are designed to transport not only skiers but also pedestrians, making the lift accessible to a wider audience. The chairlifts are equipped with weather-protective hoods to ensure comfort in varying conditions. During the summer season (from June through September), the Grünwaldkopfbahn operates for tourists as well, offering access to scenic alpine hiking routes. The upper station is located near the Treff 2000 restaurant, making it a convenient spot for rest and dining. Not far from the top station is Lake Grünwaldsee, a peaceful place where visitors can relax and enjoy boating.
