San Cataldo is a town located in the central part of Sicily, 123 kilometers (76 miles) west of Catania and 115 kilometers (71 miles) southeast of Palermo. The town covers an area of 76.65 square kilometers and has a population of approximately 23,000 people. San Cataldo hosts numerous annual festivals in honor of various Roman Catholic holidays, such as Day of the Infant Jesus on January 1, Saint Joseph’s Day on March 19, Saint Catald’s Day on May 10, Assumption of Mary on August 15, and Nativity of Mary on September 8. The town is home to many historic churches, including the Church of Saint Anthony, the Church of Saint Joseph, the Church of Saint Stephen, and others.
