Pozo Izquierdo is a small coastal village on the southeastern coast of Gran Canaria, one of the islands in the Canary Islands archipelago in Spain. It is located in the municipality of Santa Lucía de Tirajana, approximately 40 kilometers (25 miles) south of the island’s capital, Las Palmas. Pozo Izquierdo is the windiest inhabited place on Gran Canaria, known for its excellent conditions for surfing and windsurfing throughout the year.

Thanks to strong winds and constant waves, Pozo Izquierdo is one of the world’s centers for windsurfing and kitesurfing. Every year, a number of surfing and windsurfing competitions are held here, including the Gran Canaria Wind and Waves Festival and a stage of the World Windsurfing Tour, attracting top athletes from around the world.

The main beach, Playa Pozo (Playa Pozo), is covered with dark volcanic sand and pebbles and is equipped with amenities such as sun loungers, beach umbrellas, showers, changing rooms, and toilets. Alongside the beach runs a small promenade paved with red cobblestones, lined with restaurants and cafes, with parking spaces nearby. Playa Pozo is protected from strong waves by two breakwaters.

Windsurfing and kitesurfing enthusiasts prefer El Arenal Beach, also known as Playa Pozo Izquierdo, located south of the main beach. Pozo Izquierdo has windsurfing schools and rental centers where visitors can get equipment and take surfing lessons. The village has restaurants, cafes, hotels, and apartments to suit any budget, as well as a small cozy square with an adjacent green park.

Through this online webcam, you can see El Arenal Beach from the Terraza El Viento restaurant, considered one of the most popular restaurants in Pozo Izquierdo. It is located right on the Atlantic coast at the northern end of El Arenal Beach and offers traditional local cuisine and stunning views of the ocean and beach.
