Castellammare del Golfo is a commune located on the Tyrrhenian Sea coast in northwestern Sicily, 56 kilometers (35 miles) west of Palermo and 40 kilometers (25 miles) from Falcone Borsellino International Airport. The commune covers an area of 127 square kilometers (49 square miles) and has a population of approximately 14,000 people.

Castellammare del Golfo is known for being one of the two main centers of the Sicilian Mafia in the 20th century. Several prominent leaders of the Italian-American Mafia, including Salvatore Maranzano, Stefano Magaddino, and Joe Bonanno, were born in Castellammare. The town center features a small harbor with berths for yachts and boats. The main attractions in Castellammare del Golfo include the Arab-Norman Castle (Italian: Castello Arabo-Normanno), the Church of Madonna del Rosario, the Church of Madonna della Scala, and the Chiesa Madre Cathedral, which was built in 1726.

The live webcam is positioned on Montagna Longa, a mountain that rises 975 meters (3,199 feet) and is part of the “Palermo Mountains.” From Montagna Longa, there is a breathtaking view of the northwestern coast of Sicily. In the distance, you can see the panorama of Castellammare del Golfo.
