Amalfi is the main resort of the Amalfi Coast in the Campania region in southwestern Italy, situated on the slopes of the southeastern part of the Sorrento Peninsula. Amalfi is located on a narrow strip of coastline between steep cliffs and the Mediterranean Sea, approximately 35 kilometers (22 miles) southeast of Naples. It is one of the most beautiful resorts in Italy and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This region is known for its steep cliffs, terraced vineyards, and lemon groves. The town itself is well known for its beautiful architecture, historic buildings with colorful facades, and narrow streets. The streets of Amalfi are connected by staircases and arches carved directly into the cliffs.
Some of the most famous attractions in Amalfi include the Amalfi Cathedral (Duomo di Amalfi), the 13th-century Cloister of Paradise (Chiostro del Paradiso), the Paper Museum (Museo della Carta), and the Valle delle Ferriere nature reserve. Amalfi has several stunning and well-equipped beaches, the main one being Marina Grande Beach in the town center. The beaches are situated between impressive cliffs, offering breathtaking views of the Sorrentine Peninsula coastline. Amalfi also has a port with a yacht club and a ferry terminal, providing ferry services to the islands of Ischia and Capri, as well as to the cities of Naples, Sorrento, and Positano.
