Hamburg Airport, German: Flughafen Hamburg, (IATA: HAM, ICAO: EDDH) is the international airport of the city of Hamburg in northern Germany, the country’s second largest city after Berlin. The airport is located in the suburb of Fuhlsbüttel, 8.5 km north of the city center. It was opened in January 1911 and is the earliest operating airport in Germany.
It is the fifth busiest airport in Germany with an annual passenger traffic of about 12 million. Hamburg Airport has 2 runways with a length of 3,250 meters and 3,666 meters. It is the hub for the such German airlines as Germanwings, EasyJet, Condor and TUIfly airlines.
Hamburg Airport has excellent transportation links to Hamburg. You can get from the city to the airport by the high-speed train, the Hamburg U-Bahn subway, city buses, and taxis. In addition, the 606 bus service is available at night.
