The Ludus Magnus, also known as the Great Gladiatorial Training School, is the largest of the four gladiatorial schools in ancient Rome. It was constructed during the reign of Emperor Domitian near the Colosseum. At the center of the Ludus Magnus was an elliptical amphitheater measuring 62 by 45 meters (203 by 148 feet), where gladiators practiced their combat skills. Surrounded the amphitheater were three-story brick barracks that housed the gladiators and their support staff.

The Ludus Magnus was connected to the Colosseum by an underground passage, allowing gladiators to enter the rooms beneath the arena. Both the Colosseum and the Ludus Magnus were abandoned in the early 5th century after Emperor Honorius banned gladiatorial combats. The ruins of the Ludus Magnus were discovered in 1937, and today these ruins can be seen between Via Labicana and Via San Giovanni in Laterano.
