Taoyuan City is located in the northwestern part of the island of Taiwan, 30 km southwest of Taipei, the capital of the Republic of China (Taiwan). The name of the city is translated from Taiwan Language as “peach garden”. Currently, the total area of the city is 1,220.95 km2 (471.41 sq mi), it’s home to just over 2 million inhabitants. The Daxi Bridge was built in 1934 across the Dahan River in Daxi District of Taoyuan City, it is only for pedestrians and cyclists. It was originally built of bamboo and wood and was 280 meters long. Today, it is a steel-and-concrete suspension bridge in baroque style with 13 railings and a total length of 330 meters. An arch with baroque frescoes is located at the entrance to the bridge, as well as the benches there are nearby.
