Pacifica is a city in San Mateo County, California, located on the Pacific Ocean coast, 25 kilometers south of San Francisco. The city is considered one of the best places in the region for surfing, mountain biking, hiking trails, fishing and crabbing. Sharp Park Beach is located between Pacifica Municipal Pier and Mori Point Park. The beach covered black sand due to its high iron oxide magnetite content, it is one of the few black beaches in California. Sharp Park Beach is a popular spot for surfing, while Pacifica Pier is one of the best places in California for fishing and crabbing. Salmon and striped bass are well caught here in the summer, and the Dungeness crab fishing season during the winter months. Sharp Park Golf Course and Laguna Salada (small freshwater lake) is near Sharp Park Beach.
