The drive from central Hobart to the peak is roughly 22 km (14 miles). The lower slopes are blanketed with dense eucalyptus forest, while the summit is often dusted with snow, even during summer months. One of the mountainโs most striking features, clearly visible from Hobart, is the dramatic cliff formation known as the Organ Pipes.
Mount Wellington is one of Tasmaniaโs most popular tourist destinations. Its slopes feature scenic waterfalls, and the Organ Pipes cliffs are a favorite spot for rock climbers.
