The Swan River is the main waterway of Perth, the capital of Western Australia. Stretching for more than 72 kilometers, it flows into the Indian Ocean near the port city of Fremantle. One of Perth’s most striking landmarks is the Matagarup Bridge, a modern pedestrian bridge opened in 2018. Spanning about 370 meters, it connects East Perth with Optus Stadium and Burswood Park. Its unique, curved design represents the motion of swans and a serpent — important symbols in the culture of the local Noongar people. Today, Matagarup Bridge is a favorite attraction for tourists. At night, the bridge is illuminated with hundreds of LED lights, creating a spectacular display over the river.
