Central Memorial Park, covering an expansive 18,900 square meters, graces the urban landscape between 12th and 13th Avenue SW in the central Beltline district of Calgary, Canada. It’s situated a mere 2 kilometers to the south of Downtown Calgary. Established in 1889, this park embodies the Victorian architectural style and serves as a poignant tribute to the victims of the Second Boer War, which took place from 1899 to 1902.

Within the park’s bounds, you’ll find the Memorial Park Library and a beautiful fountain. At its heart, the Anglo-Boer War Monument takes center stage, featuring an equestrian statue of Russell Lambert Boyle. Often referred to simply as Central Park or Memorial Park, it annually witnesses a touching tradition on November 11th, as flowers are laid to honor the memory of those who perished in the Second Anglo-Boer War.

Central Memorial Park, along with the Memorial Park Library, received recognition as a National Historic Site of Canada in 2018. This cherished park has become one of Calgary’s most beloved destinations for both residents and visitors, offering a serene space for leisurely strolls and relaxation.
