Benito Juárez International Airport (Aeropuerto Internacional de la Ciudad de México, AICM) is the primary international gateway to Mexico City and the country’s most important aviation hub. Opened in 1952 and named after former Mexican president Benito Juárez, the airport is located just minutes from central Mexico City at an elevation of approximately 2,230 meters (7,316 feet) above sea level—one of the highest major international airports in the world.

AICM is the largest and busiest airport in Mexico and the busiest passenger airport in Latin America. In 2023, it served around 48.4 million passengers, with an average of 800–900 aircraft movements per day, placing it among the most heavily used airports globally. The airport functions as the main hub for Aeroméxico and Aeroméxico Connect, connecting Mexico City with destinations across North America, Latin America, Europe, and Asia.

Mexico City International Airport operates two parallel runways, measuring 3,952 meters (12,966 feet) and 3,900 meters (12,795 feet) in length. Due to their close proximity, the runways are generally used in alternating operations rather than simultaneously. The airport features two passenger terminals: Terminal 1, one of the largest airport terminals in the world, and Terminal 2, opened in 2007 to increase capacity and efficiency. The airport complex also includes modern cargo facilities, aircraft maintenance zones, fuel services, and extensive ground infrastructure, supporting its role as a critical hub for both passenger travel and international air freight.
