Pátzcuaro is a historic city in the state of Michoacán, Mexico, situated at an elevation of 2,140 meters (7,021 feet) above sea level on the southern shore of Lake Pátzcuaro, approximately 366 km (227 miles) west of Mexico City. The city has around 56,000 residents and covers an area of 435 km² (168 square miles). Thanks to its highland location, Pátzcuaro enjoys a mild, temperate climate, with an average annual temperature of 18°C (64°F). The rainy season lasts from June through September, while winters are mild, with lows around 8°C (46°F).

Pátzcuaro is renowned for its well-preserved colonial architecture, vibrant cultural heritage, and rich local traditions. Top attractions include the 16th-century Basilica of Our Lady of Health (Basílica de Nuestra Señora de la Salud), the historic House of Eleven Patios (Casa de los Once Patios) built in 1742, and the Michoacán Folk Art Museum, which showcases the region’s world-famous crafts.
