Bethlehem is a city in Lehigh County in northeastern Pennsylvania, located along the scenic banks of the Lehigh River. It lies approximately 97 kilometers (60 miles) north of Philadelphia and about 130 kilometers (81 miles) west of New York City. With a population of around 75,000 residents, Bethlehem is one of the largest communities in the Lehigh Valley and an important regional hub.

Founded in 1741 by a religious community of Moravian settlers from Central Europe, Bethlehem grew during the 18th and 19th centuries as a key religious and cultural center. In the late 19th century, the establishment of Bethlehem Steel transformed the city into one of the largest steel-producing centers in the United States, playing a major role in the national economy until the main plant closed in 1995.

Today, Bethlehem is known for its historic and cultural attractions. The Historic District features well-preserved colonial architecture, while the SteelStacks cultural complex, located on the grounds of the former steel plant, hosts concerts, festivals, and community events. The city also boasts Musikfest Park, home to the annual Musikfest, one of the largest music festivals in the U.S., and the Moravian Museum, which highlights the heritage of the Moravian community.

Thanks to its rich history, vibrant cultural life, and year-round festivals โ€” including popular Christmas markets โ€” Bethlehem remains an attractive destination for visitors in every season. Whether you are exploring history, enjoying live music, or attending seasonal celebrations, the city offers a unique combination of culture, tradition, and community energy.
