Acapulco (Spanish: Acapulco), officially Acapulco de Juรกrez, is a major port city and world-famous beach resort on the shores of Santa Lucia Bay along the Pacific Ocean in Guerrero, Mexico, approximately 380 km (236 miles) southwest of Mexico City. With a population of around 658,609 residents, Acapulco has been a prime vacation destination since the 1950s, attracting Hollywood stars and wealthy travelers. Today, it remains one of Mexicoโ€™s most visited resorts, popular with both international tourists and locals.

Known for its warm tropical climate, stunning natural landscapes, and white-sand beaches, Acapulco offers vibrant festivals, modern tourist infrastructure, and a bustling nightlife scene. Top attractions include the La Quebrada cliffs, famous for daring high-diving shows by professional cliff divers; Fuerte de San Diego (Fort of San Diego) and its museum; the scenic El Malecรณn waterfront promenade; Capilla de la Paz (Chapel of Peace) on Las Brisas Hill; Acapulco Cathedral (Cathedral of the Virgin of the Assumption); and Playa Condesa, one of the cityโ€™s most popular beaches.

Acapulco is also a major cruise port and maritime hub, receiving ships primarily from the United States and South America. The city is served by the General Juan N. รlvarez International Airport, with regular domestic flights and seasonal international routes. Well-connected highways link Acapulco to nearby cities and states, making it easily accessible by car. The cityโ€™s combination of beaches, culture, and adventure activities makes it one of the top travel destinations in Mexico.
