This live webcam provides real-time views of Lake Tahoe in the U.S. state of Nevada.
Lake Tahoe is located on the border of California and Nevada, in the Sierra Nevada mountain region, approximately 175 kilometers (109 miles) northeast of Sacramento. About two-thirds of the lakeโs shoreline lies within California, making Tahoe the second-largest lake in the state by surface area. The lake is famous for its crystal-clear waters and scenic alpine landscapes, which rank it among the most iconic natural landmarks in the western United States.
Lake Tahoe is about 35 kilometers (22 miles) long and up to 19 kilometers (12 miles) wide, with a total surface area of approximately 495 square kilometers (191 square miles). Its shoreline stretches for around 116 kilometers (72 miles), and the lake reaches a maximum depth of 501 meters (1,645 feet). By depth, Lake Tahoe is the second-deepest lake in the United States, after Crater Lake, and is also considered one of the deepest lakes in the world.
The lake features a single island, Fannette Island, covering an area of about 8,524 square meters (91,760 square feet). It is located in Emerald Bay and is one of Lake Tahoeโs most recognizable natural attractions. The webcam is installed on the Nevada side of the lake and faces west, offering beautiful views of sunsets over the water and the striking silhouettes of the Sierra Nevada mountains.
