The Beagle Channel separates the largest island of Tierra del Fuego archipelago from the islands of Navarin, Picton, Lenox, Oste and a number of other small islands. It is located in the south of South America at the southernmost point of Argentina. The channel got its name in honor of the ship “Beagle”, on which Charles Darwin rounded South America during his famous voyage around the world in 1831-1836. On the northern shore of the Beagle Channel located the Argentinean city and seaport of Ushuaia, considered the world’s southernmost city. Today, Ushuaia boasts a well-developed tourist infrastructure, the city has many different hotels, restaurants, and cafes. Ushuaia offers the many activities as skiing, a boat trip around the Beagle Channel, observe penguins, climbing the Martial Glacier, and much more. The main attractions of Ushuaia include Tierra del Fuego National Park, the world’s southernmost Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse, the Train of the End of the World and city museums.
