Kalk Bay is a small fishing village located on the shore of False Bay in the Indian Ocean, in the southwestern part of South Africa, and is part of Greater Cape Town. The village lies between the ocean and the surrounding high mountain peaks. It covers an area of approximately 0.32 kmΒ² and has a population of around 700 people. Kalk Bay is known for the many caves in the mountains above the village and for its popular surfing spot, Kalk Bay Reef. The best time for surfing in Kalk Bay is during the winter months, from June to August.

In the heart of the village, youβll find a small marina and Kalk Bay Beach, a sandy beach popular with locals and visitors alike.
