De Quincy (Quincy Village) is a small settlement located on the northeastern coast of Mahé, the largest island of the Seychelles archipelago. Situated along the Indian Ocean about 3 kilometers (1.8 miles) north of Victoria, the nation’s capital, it is known for its scenic views, lush tropical vegetation, beautiful beaches, and idyllic atmosphere. The local economy is primarily based on small-scale agriculture, local businesses, and tourism, with many residents employed in the hospitality sector serving visitors to Mahé.
Like many other Seychellois villages, Quincy has a history linked to the islands’ colonial past. It was originally settled by locals engaged in farming and fishing. Today, the village blends traditional lifestyles with modern conveniences. The climate in De Quincy is tropical and typical of the Seychelles — consistently warm throughout the year, with average temperatures ranging from 24°C to 30°C (75°F–86°F). The area experiences two main seasons: a wet season from November to April and a dry season from May to October.
Among the main attractions near De Quincy are the Morne Seychellois National Park, offering scenic hiking trails and panoramic island views; the Victoria Botanical Gardens, home to exotic plants and rare wildlife; and the nearby beaches of Bel Ombre and Beau Vallon, both popular for swimming and snorkeling. De Quincy is easily accessible by car or public transport from Victoria, with Mahé’s main roads providing convenient connections to other parts of the island. Through the live webcam, viewers can enjoy not only the village panorama but also distant views of Saint Anne Island with Morne de Saint Anne National Park, as well as Moyenne, Round, and Cerf Islands in the background.
