The Stubnerkogelbahn is a modern gondola lift located at the Bad Gastein resort in central Austria. It provides access to the summit of Stubnerkogel, which rises to an elevation of 2,251 meters (7,385 feet) above sea level. The cable car route covers a distance of over 2.5 kilometers (1.55 miles), with a vertical ascent of 1,136 meters (3,727 feet). In winter, it serves the ski areas of Stubnerkogel, Angertal, and Schlossalm, while in summer, it becomes a gateway for hiking and sightseeing excursions.

At the summit, you’ll find the famous Stubnerkogel Suspension Bridge, accessible via the Stubnerkogelbahn. This bridge, measuring 140 meters (459 feet) in length and 1 meter (3.3 feet) in width, is perched at an altitude of 2,300 meters (7,546 feet) and is considered one of the highest suspension bridges in Europe. It spans a dramatic 28-meter (92-foot) drop and offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding Alps.

Bad Gastein is one of Austria’s most prestigious spa and ski resorts. It is located at an elevation of approximately 1,000 meters (3,281 feet) in the Gastein Valley, in the southern part of the federal state of Salzburg. The resort is renowned for its radon-rich thermal springs and is a popular destination for both wellness tourism and winter sports. Bad Gastein is part of the Ski Amadé region, offering more than 200 kilometers (124 miles) of ski slopes for all skill levels, along with approximately 90 kilometers (56 miles) of cross-country ski trails.

One of the resort’s most iconic natural landmarks is the Gastein Waterfall, which cascades through the center of the town. Another highlight is the historic Grand Hotel, built in the early 20th century, which stands as a reminder of the town’s imperial past. Bad Gastein is easily accessible by train or car, located about 100 kilometers (62 miles) from Salzburg, making it a convenient getaway for travelers. The climate in Bad Gastein is alpine, with cold, snowy winters and cool summers. The average temperature in January is around -5°C (23°F), while in July it hovers around +15°C (59°F). The ski season typically runs from December to April, while the summer season for hikers and wellness visitors lasts from June to October.
