Banderiska Poljana is a key area of the Bansko Ski Resort in Bulgaria, located at an elevation of 1,635 meters (5,364 feet) above sea level. This central hub of the resort connects the main lifts and ski runs and is home to the primary infrastructure of the resort. Banderiska Poljana is situated in the Pirin Mountains, 6 km (3.7 miles) from the town of Bansko. It can be reached by the 8-seat Doppelmayr gondola, which links the town to the mountainous part of the resort. The gondola operates from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM and can carry up to 2,000 people per hour.
Banderiska Poljana is the center of the resort’s gastronomic life, featuring a variety of restaurants and cafes. It is also home to the upper station of the gondola lift, ski schools, and a children’s ski area with lifts and gentle slopes for learning. Several ski runs of varying difficulty start from here, including 6 “blue” runs for beginners, 9 “red” runs for intermediate skiers, and 2 black runs for experienced athletes. From Banderiska Poljana, an illuminated 7 km (4.3 miles) long run begins, leading to the lower station of the gondola in the town. In the summer, the longest water slide in Europe, measuring 400 meters (1,312 feet), operates here.
