Live webcam shows the beach of the small resort town of Obzor in Bulgaria.
Obzor is a small yet popular seaside resort town located on the eastern coast of Bulgaria, along the Black Sea. It lies between the cities of Nesebar to the south and Varna to the north. Varna is about 80 kilometers (50 miles) north of Obzor, while Nesebar is around 40 kilometers (25 miles) to the south. The city of Burgas is located approximately 85 kilometers (53 miles) further south. Thanks to this strategic location, Obzor offers a peaceful seaside retreat while still being within easy reach of Bulgaria’s major resort cities.
The main attraction of Obzor is its long, wide beach that stretches for over 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) along the Black Sea coast. The width of the beach varies from 20 to 60 meters (66 to 197 feet), providing spacious areas for relaxation and well-developed tourist and beach infrastructure. To the south of the town, the beach transitions into a more natural, undeveloped stretch — perfect for those seeking tranquility and privacy.
Obzor enjoys a temperate continental climate with hot summers and cool, damp winters. The town is surrounded by the Balkan Mountains, which create a unique climate combining sea breezes with cool mountain air. In the summer, the average air temperature is around +23°C (73°F), making the local weather ideal for beachgoers.
In addition to its natural beauty, Obzor boasts a rich ancient history that dates back to the time of the Thracians. It was an important settlement for both the ancient Greeks, who named it Heliopolis (City of the Sun), and the Romans, who built a temple to Jupiter here. Today, visitors can still see fragments of Roman architecture, including sections of ancient fortress walls and the remains of Roman baths.
Modern-day Obzor is a well-developed Bulgarian resort town, offering a wide variety of accommodations, from large hotels to cozy family-run guesthouses. The town is also home to numerous restaurants, cafes, and shops. Visitors can enjoy both traditional Bulgarian cuisine and a range of international dishes in the local dining establishments.
