Primorsko is a picturesque town in the Burgas Province of Bulgaria, situated on a small peninsula along the Black Sea coast, between the bays of Stamopolo and Dyavolski. Nestled at the foot of the Strandzha Mountains, the town lies approximately 50 kilometers (31 miles) south of Burgas and about 450 kilometers (280 miles) from Sofia. It developed on the site of the ancient settlement of Chengher, historically known as Kyupriya—derived from the Turkish word köprü, meaning “bridge.” From 1879 to 1934, the town bore this name. Today, Primorsko combines a rich historical heritage with modern tourist amenities.
Primorsko is one of Bulgaria’s popular seaside resorts, known for its fine golden-sand beaches, scenic coastal views, warm climate, and nearby natural and cultural attractions, including the Ropotamo Nature Reserve and the ancient Thracian sanctuary of Beglik Tash. The North Beach stretches for about 2.5 kilometers (1.55 miles) and borders the Stamopolo sand dunes, a designated natural landmark.
