Camogli is a charming fishing village and picturesque resort on the Italian Riviera, located on the shore of the Golfo Paradiso in the Ligurian Sea on the western side of the Portofino Peninsula. It is 20 kilometers (12.4 miles) east of Genoa and 8 kilometers (5 miles) west of the resort town of Rapallo. The village has a population of about 5,500 people, but this number increases significantly during the peak tourist season. Camogli is known for its colorful houses, pebbly beaches, and scenic harbor with bright fishing boats.
The history of Camogli dates back to the Roman Empire when it was known as Portus Namnetum. In the Middle Ages, the town thrived as an important port and served as a base for the Genoese fleet. Today, Camogli is a popular Italian resort, attracting a large number of tourists from all over the world. Although there are not many beaches, they are all clean, comfortable, and very picturesque. Just north of Camogli is the town of Recco, and 13 kilometers (8 miles) southeast is the popular resort of Portofino.
